The 29th Xavier Black & White Auction, sponsored by the Home & School Association, will start virtually on Wednesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. EST, and end Saturday, March 27 at 8 p.m. EST.
This year’s “Raise The Paddle” will support the Xavier High School chapel renovations.
What is a Paddle Raise? During past annual auctions in the Arthur M. Kohs Gymnasium, the “Paddle Raise” was a way for the Xavier Community to support a specific project on the school campus in a quick and fun way. The “paddle” is typically a bid number on your auction program, and it is “raised” by event attendees to give a cash donation. Even though we are not together at Xavier High School this year, we did not want to miss the opportunity to continue the tradition.
About The Chapel: The chapel with its stained-glass windows was dedicated when the school opened in 1963. The chapel is a place for smaller gatherings, quiet reflection, and many opportunities for students that include Masses, Eucharistic Service, Rosary Devotion and Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
Brendan Bell ’05, a religion teacher as well as Assistant Director of Admissions, once said, “The chapel is there at those times when the world outside of it seems to be too sad or too noisy or too busy.”
Stay tuned for the formal website that will have the auction items and bidding instructions.
