Easter Season Celebrated At Mass

Easter does not end with Easter Sunday. Rather, it’s the beginning of a 50-day period that extends to Pentecost Sunday.

With the Xavier students back from spring break, Mass was celebrated Tuesday by Father Ernie Bedard of St. Pius X in Middletown. The juniors attended in the gym while the rest of the classes were watching the live feed in classrooms.

“It can sometimes be hard to put our emotions into words,” Father Ernie said.

The emotions surrounding the Easter season takes us from the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And the entire Easter season, which becomes a time of joy, gratitude, thanksgiving, celebration, faith, hope. It is a time to rejoice and be glad, Father Ernie reminds us.

“Jesus has conquered both sin and death once and for all,” Father Ernie said toward the end of his message. “We are called to preach the good news of Christ’s resurrection. My brothers and sisters, our Lord has risen. May we rejoice and be glad.”

The sun was shining, tulips emerging from under the trees in front of Xavier. New life. God's beauty before us. The Lord has risen.
