Thanks be to God, indeed.
For the first time in two years the Xavier community gathered in the gym for a Mass. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, faculty and staff were present for Ash Wednesday services. Previously two classes on a rotating basis would be in the gym for Mass with the other two viewing virtually from their classrooms.
Fr. Jonathan Ficara, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Norwich, celebrated the Mass. He spoke in part about finding yourself, about finding your vocation which goes beyond what you do professionally but in how you live your life, how you serve others.
This is a time of self-examination.
“The time is always now to turn to him, to reexamine the ways in which you are not living for him, and ask the Lord for his grace, his strength, his love so that you may walk with him and be the person God wants you to be … May God, Heavenly Father, bless us with more people in all vocations, be inspired by Jesus Christ, and supported by the community here.”
