If past years are any indication and you are a car enthusiast, you’ll want to be at Xavier High School on Saturday, May 7, for the 15th EJK Car Show.
There likely will be in the neighborhood of 100 cars and trucks of all makes and vintages in the front parking lot, the upper parking lot, the front grassy areas, and the exit driveway. Basically everywhere you turn.
In past years there have been cars and trucks ranging from a Packard to a Bentley, from a Corvette to a 1940 Ford half-ton pickup. You never know what might show up, but one thing is for certain: there will be multiple head-spinners.
The car show is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All cars are welcome. There is a $10 entry fee per vehicle and a $1 admission fee. Those viewing the show will be directed to park in the rear of the school.
All proceeds benefit the EJK Scholarship Fund. About 20 trophies will be given in various categories. The event honors the memory of the late Eric J. Kalber '04, who was killed in an automobile accident in 2005. The rain date is Sunday, May 8, at the same time.
Xavier Car Club members are Kyle Palozie ’22, this year’s president; Joseph Chiaramonte ‘23; Patrick Clements Dolan ‘25; William Despres ’24; Fransesco De Vivo ‘24; Braydon Lobo ‘24; Nicholas Miano ‘23; Jack O’Brien ‘25; Siddharth Patel ‘24; Thomas Pullman ’24; Connor Purcell ‘25; Evan Riegler ’23; and Samuel Schulz ’22.
Steven Johnson, the uncle of Kalber, assists the students. Advancement Director Elizabeth Whitty and Business Manager Dan Cizauskas are the Car Club moderators.
