There’s a certain kind of quiet pride that fills the hallways at Xavier, a pride born not from grand displays but from moments that feel almost too big to capture. It’s in the deep breaths before the first bell rings, the shuffling of feet in classrooms where futures are built, and, on days like today, in the achievements of students whose names are now etched into the story of this place.
Head of School Nick Cerreta is proud to announce that ten Xavier High School students have been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from Xavier and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented to our scholastically talented seniors.
Congratulations to Zander Bos, Noah Garcia, Charles Lechowicz Joseph Lechowicz, Shrikar Mutalik, Petros Paul, Joshua Raj, Aiden Sesta, Jaycek Simko, and Oliver Snow. This honor speaks to their hard work, but also to the culture we have here at Xavier. It’s about more than test scores. It’s about pushing themselves in every aspect of their lives. They have strived not for recognition but for excellence. And now, the recognition has followed.
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for the NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their education opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
