Each year, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools present a faculty or staff member with the Theodore James Ryken Award.
In recognition of the devotedness of the adult members in Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools, the Theodore James Ryken Award has been established to recognize an adult member of the school community who by her or his commitment and dedication lives the mission of the Xaverian charism of education and strives:
- To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ;
- To participate in the school’s community of faith and to nurture members of the community;
- To be committed to academic excellence and to recognize the talents of individuals;
- To recognize the importance of educating the whole person;
- To fulfill the Gospel call to peace and justice.
This year after tallying votes, Xavier ended up having a tie. The two winners of the award this year are administrative assistant Lisa Keereweer and administrative assistant Marie Braychak!
There are few people whose contributions to our school community are as profound and far-reaching as Mrs. Keereweer. For years, she has been a steady presence behind the scenes, tirelessly working to ensure that everything at Xavier runs smoothly. Whether it's processing prospective student applications, organizing schedules, managing databases, or coordinating major events, her ability to juggle so many responsibilities without ever missing a beat is nothing short of remarkable.
Every day, Mrs. Keereweer gives her best to Xavier - often without the recognition she truly deserves. Her commitment to Xavier goes far beyond her work duties. She is a true advocate for our students, always showing up to cheer them on at sporting events, supporting them in their extracurricular activities, and offering a steady hand whenever needed.
Mrs. Braychak has dedicated more than half their life to fostering a sense of community, warmth, and support for every student and faculty/staff member who walks through these doors. Her generosity is boundless, offering not only time and care but an open heart to all in need. Whether it's giving her lunch to a student who forgot theirs, offering a comforting hug when someone is having a tough day, or welcoming alumni into her home, Mrs. Braychak consistently goes above and beyond to make others feel cared for.
For so many students, she is the mother away from home offering a steady hand of guidance when needed and words of encouragement when earned. Above all, she models the very essence of compassion that Xavier holds dear. Beyond their acts of kindness, Mrs. Braychak's presence is one of calm and stability, even on the busiest of days. As a pillar of our community, she brings peace amidst the whirlwind of school life.
