Diego Canellas Becomes Xavier Soccer’s First All American

In the history of Xavier soccer, there had never been an All-American. That changed when Diego Canellas laced up his cleats, stepped onto the field, and left an indelible mark on the program.

During his interscholastic career, his fifty-seven goals and thirty assists tell the story of a player with precision, brilliance, grit, and heart. Diego was not just the most dangerous player on the pitch; he was a leader and captain who guided his team to the CIAC Class LL State Finals in 2024.

The accolades poured in during his senior season. He was named team captain, MVP of the Senior Bowl, GAMETIMECT Player of the Year, All-SCC, All-State, and All-New England. Now, he has earned the ultimate honor: All-American.

In three seasons with the Falcons, Diego was part of two Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) Championship teams and Xavier went to two CLASS LL State Finals.
