Dear Xavier Families,
In a week filled with reminders of faith and community, we gathered Friday morning for All Saints Day Mass, a sacred pause in the middle of a busy season. Standing together in the heart of our gymnasium, we were reminded of the saints, those lights of faith who walked before us, a legacy that inspires our own journey at Xavier. There's a special joy in coming together as one, reflecting on what it means to live with purpose and grace.
That sense of purpose has undoubtedly carried our Cross Country team to another landmark achievement. Last Saturday, they clinched their sixth consecutive Class L State Title, and earlier this fall, they brought home their ninth SCC Championship in a row. To say this team is a dynasty doesn't quite capture the heart and grit these young men show every time they lace up. It's a testament to dedication and camaraderie - the kind of strength that has become synonymous with Xavier Athletics.
The weekend ahead brings the excitement of welcoming potential members of the Xavier family for our first entrance exam for the Class of 2029. We look forward to meeting these young men and their families, seeing their aspirations for the future, and perhaps offering a glimpse of the bonds and achievements that await them here.
Next week, we're thrilled to have parents back on campus for Parent-Teacher Conferences. It's a chance to connect, to hear about the strides your sons are making, and to keep building the foundation for their success.
As we come together in moments of strength, we also rally in times of need. Brother Philip has recently begun his treatment journey up in Massachusetts for his lung cancer diagnosis, preparing for chemotherapy and immunotherapy scheduled to start next week. This road is one of courage, marked by his faith and the support of those who hold him dear. We ask that you continue to keep Brother Philip in your prayers, that he may feel the comfort of our thoughts and well-wishes with each step.
With gratitude for the shared moments this week and the ones still to come, we wish you all a restful weekend and look forward to seeing many of you soon.
I wanted to share this passage from our XBSS Partners in Mission document:
"Trust is total confidence in our God and our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is the meeting place of mind, heart, faith, and courage. This trust allows people to look toward the transcendent to grow in faith in spite of life's difficulties. It flourishes in contemplation and encourages, enlightens, and inspires all believers."
