Dear Xavier Families,
As we enter the final stretch of April, the Xavier community continues to move forward with purpose, compassion, and pride. This week served as a reminder of the power of preparation, the value of guidance, and the quiet strength found in the hearts of those who serve others on and off campus.
Earlier today, in partnership with the Middletown South Fire District and the Middletown Police Department, our juniors and seniors witnessed a sobering and moving mock drinking and driving crash demonstration ahead of prom season. The presentation, aired live on FOX61, offered a real-world glimpse into the consequences of impaired driving and the responsibilities that come with getting behind the wheel. Following the demonstration, Officer and Xavier SRO Matt Bloom, Class of 2004, returned to Xavier to speak with our students, urging them to make safe and smart decisions and to lean on one another when it matters most.
That same spirit of reflection and forward thinking was on full display Thursday, when our junior class traveled across town to Wesleyan University for a career fair featuring professionals from nearly every corner of the working world. Whether our students are dreaming of medicine, engineering, business, the arts, or discovering a new path entirely, they had the opportunity to ask questions, make connections, and begin mapping the future.
On Wednesday, we gathered together in celebration of the Eucharist, one of the most meaningful traditions in our Xavier experience. After Mass, we officially welcomed a new member of our school family: Magnum, Xavier’s full-time facility service dog. Born in Ukraine and rescued in the midst of war, Magnum’s journey to Middletown is nothing short of miraculous. Thanks to the Forever in My Heart Foundation, he received more than 1500 hours of service training and is now offering comfort, connection, and calm to all who cross his path. It was an unforgettable moment as he received his service vest and began his new role at Xavier.
Wednesday was also Administrative Professionals Day, and we took time to honor five exceptional women who quietly and confidently keep Xavier running behind the scenes: Mrs. Berry, Mrs. Biro, Mrs. Braychak, Mrs. Keereweer, and Ms. O’Connor. Whether greeting guests, assisting faculty, or supporting students and families, they are the heartbeat of our school. Their warmth, professionalism, and tireless dedication remind us that leadership takes many forms, and sometimes the loudest impact is made in the quietest of ways.
Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Senior Prom on Saturday night at Woodwinds in Branford. It promises to be a night of laughter, memories, and joy as our seniors come together to mark this special moment in their journey. We are grateful to the faculty, staff, and families who helped make this event possible and look forward to seeing our students enjoy an evening worthy of all they have accomplished.
Thank you, as always, for your support and partnership.
Have a restful weekend and God bless.
