Xavier High School Parent Weekly Newsletter - February 21

Dear Xavier Families,

It was a short but productive week at Xavier, one filled with moments that embody the mission of our school and the values we strive to instill in our students.

Our 20 Falcons and four faculty members who traveled to Guatemala had a powerful experience, embracing the call to serve others and carrying out the mission of Xavier and the Xaverian Brothers. As they return home today, we pray for their safe travels and look forward to hearing about the impact of their journey.

Earlier today, our entire school community gathered for a special assembly featuring Deacon Art Miller from the Connecticut Center for Nonviolence. Deacon Miller shared his firsthand experiences from the Civil Rights Movement, offering a profound and moving reflection that deeply resonated with our students. His words served as a strong reminder of the sacrifices made in the pursuit of justice and the responsibility we all share in building a more just and compassionate world, especially fitting during Black History Month. His message about part of being a Christian is to love one another without exception was well received. He gave our students important reminders that we are all of our brothers keeper at Xavier.

Thank you to Mr. Braychak and members of My Brothers Keeper on organizing this important discussion.

As we move forward in the school year, we continue to challenge our students to be men of character, faith, and service, both inside and outside the classroom. Thank you for your continued support of Xavier and all we do to shape the young men entrusted to our care.

I wanted to share this passage from our XBSS Partners in Mission document:

“To manifest God’s care and compassion to those who are separated and estranged not only from their neighbors, but also from their uniqueness, to those who suffer from want, neglect, and injustice: the poor, the weak, and the oppressed of this world.”

Here are this week's updates and announcements...
