Xavier High School Parent Weekly Newsletter - March 7

Dear Xavier Families,

It was a busy and fulfilling week at Xavier, filled with opportunities for our students to grow, lead, and connect beyond the classroom.

On Tuesday, our freshmen participated in Spring Freshmen Leadership Day, an afternoon dedicated to reflection, goal-setting, and personal growth. Led by Dan Jaskot ’98 of Empower Leadership, the Class of 2028 took time to look back on their first year at Xavier while setting goals for their sophomore year. The afternoon featured hands-on activities and inspiring talks from Lucien Delaney ’25 and Greg Jaskot ’00, emphasizing the importance of leadership and self-improvement. Xavier takes great pride in providing opportunities beyond the classroom for our Falcons to develop into young men of character, faith, and leadership.

On Wednesday, we gathered as a school community to celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass, marking the beginning of the Lenten season. It was a powerful moment of reflection, repentance, and renewal. As we received our ashes, we were reminded of the call to turn our hearts toward God, embracing the journey of faith and service that Lent invites us to follow.

Thursday evening, we once again welcomed prospective families to campus for our Spring Open House. Thanks to the incredible efforts of our Home & School Association, coaches, faculty, staff, and student tour guides, we created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for future Falcons and their families. It’s always exciting to introduce new families to what makes Xavier such a special place.

This weekend, the Mercy/Xavier Spring Musical, Matilda, will take the stage at the Mercy Auditorium. If you haven’t secured your tickets yet, there’s still time! I look forward to watching the performance on Sunday afternoon, and I encourage you to support our talented students as they bring this classic story to life.

On Friday, our community came together for Cultural Diversity Day, a meaningful opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to engage in discussions about justice, equality, and understanding. In the morning, we gathered in small groups to watch the film Just Mercy, followed by thoughtful discussions reflecting on its themes. In the afternoon, we welcomed Pastor James Lane from the Connecticut Center for Nonviolence, who spoke to our community about the importance of social justice. These conversations and experiences help shape Xavier into a place where faith, compassion, and understanding are at the heart of who we are.

We also invite you to join us for the 33rd Annual Black and White Auction, hosted by the Home and School Association. This event is a vital part of ensuring the sustainability and progress of our school, and we hope you will consider attending or supporting in any way you can. Tickets are available now, and we encourage you to be part of this special evening celebrating and supporting Xavier.

As always, thank you for your support of Xavier.
